Me & The Post Below & Act 174 & The Attitudes of Student-Teachers - TopicsExpress

Me & The Post Below & Act 174 & The Attitudes of Student-Teachers in IPG etc This I got from a post and it kind of attracted me. So you guys read the lines very very carefully as Im going to comment on the lines which I try my very best to do according to the context. PEOPLE whatever it is do read according to the context. Dont cherry-pick line/s that you would want to spin as it aint of any use and it only shows how unacademic you are. The same goes to me. I apologize for my statements should you feel angry by them. (Zul Fikri Zamir, 2010) I believe in Freedom of Speech but it is with a limit. We work within our radius. As government servants IPG instructors are to abide by General Order, which are specific rules and regulations to control their work habit and ethics. As in my case I applied that in class as the student-teachers get to say out loud whatever regarding the proforma. So, the radius here is the proforma. I used to deal with ELE 3104 (Elective-English Language Teaching Methodology). In class the student-teachers dealt with issues of English in the primary class. We discussed things like the lesson plan, like how to develop a good presentation for set induction, presentation, practice, production and closure. In between discussion the student-teachers suggested resource material to support the stages in the development of the lesson. And there were times when student-teacher presented their macro and micro teachings, many were recorded only to be watched later for reflective purposes. As an instructor I made a rule for everybody to ask whatever they doubted regarding lesson presentation through video watching. Me being the instructor, was I being open, in my opinion yes. We were discussing things related to English classroom teaching openly. They were suggesting and many of their suggestions I rated as justifiable and out-of-the-box. Did I look down on them at times, yes, if they were not willing to reason out why they were stating such and such as being 20-23 not many could be considered as really reflective. Reflective student-teachers are those who justify accordingly, who take time to do their homework, who research for things to upgrade their mind, who are willing to take the thousand steps to understand certain difficulties and so forth so on. Now Im asking you, is there Freedom of Speech?. I think you guys notice that. BUT this Freedom of Speech is about the proforma. Anything outside the proforma is considered as only side issues that would be dealt appropriately if time permits. The problem with our student-teachers and I free those who pay close attention in class and do their research as honestly as they could. BUT to those who miss class often and plagarise their friends work, well maybe this what they call Freedom of Speech which to them means freeing themselves from the burden of heavy duty study to learn the best of their ability any proformas so that they could acquire the skills needed of them to be good teachers. As far as I know, not many student-teachers were penalised for misconduct/s. There were very few, not even 10%. And many a time the authority in charged of discipline was very tolerant and these wrongdoers were released. There was one instance when a student-teacher was caught of absenteeism and that caused that individual to be disallowed from sitting for examination. The student-teacher was given a time to calm things down for a year. Unfortunately the student-teacher did the same absenteism again and was kicked out of the system. The student-teacher had breached the contract and someone in the family will have to pay for that. During the trial, the student-teaccher was given a chance to defend himself. I dont know whether being given a chance to defend oneself is not Freedom of Speech. It sounds like one to me. Allah knows best. If one goes through Act 174, one will find that IPG at times closes one eye on student-teachers misconduct as the authority-in-charge read their maturity level, that they were misconducting perhaps of age factor. Being young makes you want to rebel at all law and restrictions. Allah knows best.
