Me and my fugeesstatus was a source of pain when growing up, most - TopicsExpress

Me and my fugeesstatus was a source of pain when growing up, most of the kids in primarily school would call me a refugee.....I will go home crying and my dad would encourage me and ask me to tell the abusers that I am an exile and that is why I am not in dukwi......as a young boy growing up in Phikwe, this meant that during school holidays when everyone went to Moraka, masimo or home villages and we got to remain in town.....it was painful when all the people have left town and you will not have any friends to play with.....when everyone is back from the holidays you could not even tell you holiday experience to anyone as all will be talking about Moraka and Masimo experience .....occasionally we will only visit Lesotho once in 2 years as the trip had to be properly planned with security detail as dad was high on the wanted list in Lesotho......the trip involve changing cars and drivers 4 times before we reach Ladybrand......as I was growing up this status became a relief as I as did not have the baggage of relatives who just rock up at you place without notice ke tsile mo Gaborone go batla tiro, ne ke re ke robale mo sithing room ke emetse go bona tiro.......just as I was relaxing watching my news in the comfort of my crib and knowing that I am Ebola free, I get a knock........ as I opened the door....OMG! My cousin from Lesotho has just rocked up without notice....this man has crossed borders and travel more than 800km without any early warning sign.....I accepted him and stayed at my place for a couple of days....he told me that he was from JHB and was looking for work and whilst in JHB decided to try his luck in BW.......this is a guy who only went up to standard 5 and did his time in what they call Lebollo or bogwera........in lesotho you go up to 6 months in the mountains where you undergo serious manhood training.....I immediately thought of my Auntie in Mmathethe who is into commercial farming as to whether she has something that could keep the boy busy.....she immediately affirmed and I bused the boy to Mathethe where he was given some work and a decent salary of more than BWP1500......this boy started working well and the employer attested that he is indeed a hard worker.......the problems started when he was asked to mop and sweep the floor, do tea for himself e.t.c. This boy protested vigorously saying that he can not do Tiro tsa Basadi he detested this work that he would get possessed by demons when explaining how he does not want to do ladies work .......he lasted for two weeks got his pay and skipped the country without telling me ...........that is when I released how chauvinistic my home country is which is perpetuated by Lebollo.......Now I have a formula of getting those cousins who rock in from lesotho, give them a mop and broom and they will do self deportation.
