Meb...Meb...Meb Keflezighi American Meb Keflezighi won the 2014 Boston Marathon mens title today on a day that was marked by remembrances of the bombings one year ago. Meb and his family are refugees from Eritrea (a small country on the East Coast of Africa, along the Red Sea across from Yemen and Saudi Arabia). Meb and his ten siblings relocated to San Diego, CA when he was twelve years old. Meb is the only American to win the New York Marathon, Boston Marathon and medal in an Olympic marathon. Wicked strong. For the first time since 1983, our national anthem was played after the Boston Marathon for this almost 39-year-old runner. With his shoulders draped with an American flag, Meb wept as he sang our national anthem. Well done Mr. Keflezighi. So glad I took the day off to watch you kick ass. Beautiful man/effort/athlete. Rita Jeptoo of Kenya set a course record of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 57 seconds. Repeat womens champion.
