Mechanics of a Broken Heart An engine thats been torn apart A useless charcoaled empty wedge With wires burning at their edge Marks of a self-performed ligation An attempt to avoid loves impregnation Though the juice is its feed Through holes it does bleed Since pierced by the cruel misuse of its fuel Oil covers the wings They can’t flap when love sings Pulled at the roots each time enchanted Until it was realized Only self can prevent it A dream of truth still not realized Doubts reassured And then goals resized Cant rev up an engine thats battered and worn With too many patches applied and then torn Ticker weakened and too ill To allow another spill Of love And all it lacks to meddle To once again allow rust on its metal Metallic shines and it protects Deep within heart’s beauty reflects (shhh…) The core is broken, I do confess So it shall seem ‘till true love invests -- Audrey Michelle Spoken Word Artist
