The Premier noted that for the past month, Muslims throughout the world including those in and from the Eastern Cape have been fasting daily from dawn to dusk, in a Spirit of Deep Personal Reflection and Introspection, embarking on act which fosters personal discipline, patience , dedication and sacrifice. This has been a month that also emphasized values of Empathy, caring for the less fortunate, the poor and the destitute - an obligation that people of all Faiths have to each other. It was also during this month, that we celebrated Mandela Day from the length and breadth of our province, country , continent and the world to live the values that Nelson Mandela fought, lived and died for. It is also the month where the situation facing the People of Palestine deteriorated further in Gaza. On behalf of the Government and the people of the Eastern Cape , I extend my friend of solidarity and friendship to all those of Muslim faith as you Celebrate Eid - Al- Fitr in our Beautiful province.May this Occasion be Filled with Joy, Happiness, Good Health and Prosperity.
