*Media = Paid, Bias, Fearmongers* *General Population of Public Media = Uneducated, Over-opinionated, Judgemental, Mostly Inept Idiots* The above being noted, the dog attack incident in Houma was not even a pitbull. I doubt very much that had another, less common breed of dog had done this, that it would have even created a blip on the radar besides VERY locally. I feel terrible for the family... a tremendous, and tragic loss. I wont even begin to assume that I can imagine what they are going through. My thoughts sincerely go out to them to deal with such a terrible loss... However, shouldnt there be some personal accountability? Yes! But people are so quick to blame the entire (incorrect) breed just to create fear and pass their own sense of vindicated, bandwagon judgement. Lets all just blame the type of dog, and go forth and persecute the entire breed! (Ugh!) Does it seem as though there are more vicious dog attacks recently? Yeah, it does. Real good chance it has something to do with the fact that the general public is so much more connected to the outside world/cities/people than ever before! (And thats NOT always a good thing...) There are so many more media outlets now, for information to travel from everywhere to anywhere... I dont think the number of attacks increased, or the brutality of them worse (is there worse than a child being harmed? - NO. So no change there...), or that the breed as a whole are bad dogs. I DO think that there needs to be common sense applied situationally. If you choose to own a powerful animal, of ANY kind, apply common sense. (I wouldnt stand directly behind a horse, would u? Doesnt mean theyre a bad animal) I think that our fearmongering media ensures the general public hears of it like never before, in the most bias way possible. Its ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. *Steps off soap box*
