Media Release 4-18-14 On the 17th of April 2014 at approximately 8:40PM Big Spring Police Department Officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of Gregg Street in reference to a small child being struck by a vehicle. By 8:42 PM EMS and Officers had arrived on scene and the child was immediately transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment. It was found that the child (2 years of age) was with his elderly grandmother in the parking lot of “Hunan’s restaurant” (1201 S. Gregg) when the “rambunctious” child had ran into the roadway and was struck by a 2005 Red Ford F-150 PK. The investigation led Officers to believe that the incident was a tragic accident and no charges will be filed as a result. The child was treated and released from Scenic Mountain Medical Center the night of the 17th of April 2014. Investigators contacted the child’s mother on this date and found the child is doing well though they are following up with physicians as a precautionary measure.
