Media Release Anthony Guitar launches campaign for Vancouver City Mayor/ Vancouver City Council with COPE For Immediate Release September 10th, 2014 On Wednesday Morning, September 10th, 2014, Anthony Guitar launched his campaign to seek a COPE nomination for Vancouver City Mayor/ Vancouver City Council. My name is Anthony Guitar, and I am seeking a nomination for Vancouver City Mayor/ Vancouver City Council with the Coalition of Progressive Electors. I am running for Vancouver City Mayor/ Vancouver City Council to use my voice, to speak the truth, and through truth wake up the entire City to what really happens here in our Community. I want to use my voice to raise important questions - Questions like why is there such a Homeless Problem in our City? Why is there so much violence against Aboriginal Women? Why are members of the Vancouver Police Department, getting away with Harassment, Assault, Threats? And handing out fony Jaywalking Tickets, and threaten to put people in jail that dont pay them. Why are the asking for a $4.2 Million Budget, what are the plans for the use of these funds? The number of Affordable and Subsidized Housing Units keep shrinking. The number of people who are being forcibly displaced on a daily basis is getting larger. This is part of the main reason we now have well over 150 people living in Oppenheimer Park. I am not just picking on Mayor Robertson here, but he did say he would end Homelessness by 2015. Why he has recently washed his hands on the situation, and We need to Stop the Threatening to throw peoples belongings in the dump. And Stop Ticketing the Vendors, and throwing their stuff out, all they are trying to do is make a few dollars to get through the day. My intention is and always will be to Protect and to Empower People, to give Hope, and give people a reason to believe that things can and will get better, and right again. Anthony Guitar is a resident of the DTES. He is a Student in the Social Service Worker Recovery Specialist. Active Coordinator with DTES Cop Watch, and most recently the Homeless Tent City in Oppenheimer Park.
