Media Release From: Denise M. Moloney Community/Media Relations Manager, 352-797-3609 Re: Business Emergency Notification System (BENS) Date: October 7, 2014 The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office provides you with a FREE SERVICE to safeguard your business, as well as your employees. The Business Emergency Notification System (BENS) is a program developed to ensure the proper individuals are notified in the event an emergency takes place at your business during non-business hours (i.e., break-in, fire, open door). The system that the Sheriff’s Office has in place alleviates the need to post emergency information on the doors or windows, thus keeping all information private and confidential. To activate the free program, you can now access the form available on the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office website, under Programs/Bens Tab. Once you have completed the form, you can either mail or fax it to the number that is on the top of the sheet. A volunteer assigned to your area will come to your business and place the “star” in its appropriate location. Should any information that you provide become obsolete, please call 352-754-6830, Ext. 53660 to update it. This information should be updated annually or when contact information has changed. We hope you find this program beneficial in fulfilling your security needs. The BENS program is one of the many community programs that your Sheriff’s Office has to offer you. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this program or others, please call the number mentioned above.
