Media Release. Saturday, January 18, 2014. Impaired Driving On Friday, January 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver on Holland Street West in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. A Traffic officer working in the area was able to locate the vehicle in question and pull the car over. After a brief conversation, the constable confirmed what the citizen had suspected and arrested the driver for Impaired Driving. He was taken back to the South Division for Breathalyzer tests which confirmed he was more than double the legal limit. Officers also learned the man was already before the courts on another impaired driving charge by the O.P.P. and was disqualified from driving. A 50 year old Bradford man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on charges of Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mgs and Driving While Disqualified. His vehicle has also been seized. No Insurance A 43 year old Woodbridge man is facing a hefty fine after he was pulled over by a Canine officer in Bradford on Friday night. The constable was monitoring traffic on Professor Day Drive around 8:30 p.m., when he stopped a Nissan for speeding. The driver was unable to surrender any insurance documents for his car, and after a short investigation the officer determined the man did not have insurance for his car. The man was issued a summons under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and will be appearing in court on February 12th. If convicted, the man will face a minimum fine of $5,000. Suspended Driver On Saturday, January 18, shortly after midnight, a South Division officer pulled over a car on Holland Street West for speeding. A computer check on the driver revealed that he was suspended from driving since October because he failed to pay his court imposed fines from previous traffic violations. A 30 year old Barrie man is now facing a charge of Driving While Under Suspension and will be back before a Justice of the Peace on February 12, 2014.
