Medical Technologist (Laboratory) with Infection and Malnutrition under the Centre for Nutrition and Food Security (Advertisement #15/15) icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Medical Technologist (Laboratory) with Infection and Malnutrition under the Centre for Nutrition and Food Security. The appointment will be made on a CSA basis for 11 months, which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. Duty station – Dhaka Salary – Tk. 27,191/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible. Job Profile Project Work: Participate in experiments of research support; Perform sample retrieval, storage, shipment; Perform extraction of total Nucleic Acid from Stool samples; Identify Shigella and ETEC disease burden using Taqman Array Card Real Time PCR; Perform routine laboratory tests and assays independently in accordance with approved SOP and keep records; Prepare controls, calibrators, reagents and chemicals and maintain log; Prepare list of requisition items for stock/non-stock laboratory reagent and consumables to laboratory coordination officer; Discard bio hazardous materials in Hypo-chloride; Neutralize harsh reagents before disposing PPE; Discard waste material in bio-hazard bag for autoclaving and incineration; Report results, maintaining strict confidentiality; Store leftover samples for further requirement in order to carry out uninterrupted project work. Maintenance of Equipment, Bio-Safety and Bio-Security :Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment for their optimum operation and perform minor trouble shooting.; Follow biosafety and biosecurity guidelines and guide newly hired staff and lab technician on bio-safety procedures in order to protect person to person transmission of infection; Adhere to quality assurance processes from collection to reception by the laboratory; Maintain temperature log for sample and freeze and fridger as well as maintain temperature log in transit through cool box; contact with bio-medical engineering for maintenance works of medical equipments as per guidelines in order to ensure proper maintenance and use of equipments with safety and security. Requirements: Education and Relevant Experience : BSc. in Medical Lab Technology/MSc. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; 2 years of experience in healthcare research or medical diagnostic laboratory. Experience may be relaxed up to 1 year having experience on Microarray realtime PCR.
