Mediocrity. Whereas in previous generations it was discouraged and scorned, in todays latest generation it is not only celebrated, but respected. This current short-cut, short-circuited society we live in now is inundated with young people that want it all but dont want to do all they can to make that a reality. The blame game aside, it is very true that kids these days have inherited a poorer society and are not as blessed to have the proper footing as their parents. Then all the more reason to support hard workers that go above and beyond as opposed to those that tread and meander. What I see now are children that aspire to pop celebrity and Instagram fame instead of diligent work ethics and educational prowess. What trajectory can you expect when Autotune, Photoshop, and Industrial Light and Magic type special effects make the difficult seem attainable with little work output necessary? Children having children and then raising them like a friend instead of an authoritative leader. Say what you will but it all starts at home. Homes these days are more broken than theyve ever been. As the television raises our next generation, its increasingly hard to protect our youth against the Snookis, Kardashians, and Hiltons of the world. What was once great is no longer as great. There are more chinks in the armor than many are willing to admit. The only way to get out of this black hole of mundane is to re-route our efforts and place before us people and programs that praise the exceptional and commend the hard working. When we celebrate people of questionable talent and means, we are basically conceding to the lowest common denominator. Dont be the fraction.
