Meena or Pisces. Pisces or ‘Meena’ have the same meaning in Western and Indian astrology, both mean the fish. This animal symbol of the last sign of the zodiac has two fish swimming in opposite directions in water, this indicates ‘pralaya’ or Doomsday or end of a cycle of creation. When God ends a cycle of creation He submerges it in water, the story of Noah’s Ark in the West and the story of ‘Matsya’ avatar of Lord Vishnu in India are similar and convey the message of the symbols of the sign. One fish swimming in one direction stands for spiritual persons and the other fish swimming in the opposite direction stands for materialistic persons, both are submerged. The arcs indicate two different cycles of creation and the line indicates the connection between them. The end of the creation is depicted by right hand segment of O, the first arc and is connected to the beginning of the next creation depicted by the left hand segment of O, the second arc, the two are linked by a straight horizontal line, the horizontal connecting line indicates inert submerged souls’ transition from one cycle of creation to the next cycle of creation. Pisces is a female, watery and dual (fixed and moveable) sign. The female element stands for preserving the souls in the Cosmic Womb. The water element stands for humbleness that the soul must experience at this stage, remember water always goes down indicating humbleness. The fixed and the moveable element stand for spiritual souls trying to attain their goals and the material souls being frustrated. Pisces is owned by Jupiter a pious planet and a planet which leads one to the Light. Venus a planet of sensual energy is exalted in this sign as the senses are best suited to experience the ‘Moksha’ or Emancipation.
