Meet Marty, the new boy on our web site. He’s a super-sweet 10-month-old, 10-pound terrier/chi mix who suffered more than his fair share of abuse and neglect in his short lifetime. Poor Marty was found discarded in a sealed Huggies box on a very hot day at a rural vineyard in Bakersfield. Covered with hundreds of engorged ticks and suffering from a severe eye infection, Marty was rushed to the vet by his good Samaritan, and underwent hours of tick removal and weeks of antibiotics to treat his infections. Currently in foster care (thank you Ann), Marty is doing remarkably well. He’s a cheerful, sweet and loving little dog who loves his squeaky toys and plays nicely with other dogs. Understandably, he’s still a bit shy and unsure, but he’s becoming braver each day. He’s walking on the leash, he’s house trained and is being crate trained. He loves the gentle touch of human hands, and he relaxes and dozes as you stroke his fur. Please help us prove to Marty that humans can be good, and that life can be wonderful.
