Meet Skippy. Hes had a pretty terrible day, having been hit by a truck not once, but FIVE times. Skippy was our crash test dummy. This week, instructors from the renowned Institute of Police Technology and Management have been providing training to officers from across Saskatchewan to help them better understand the dynamics of vehicle collisions involving cyclists and pedestrians.The training will help to increase the efficiency and thoroughness of investigations of these types of collisions. Today, Skippy was our crash test dummy as officers analyzed and took measurements every time he was struck at varying speeds and positions (facing vehicle, sideways to vehicle, back to vehicle, etc.). To say the least, he did not have a good day. Heres a video of one of the tests. The truck was clocked at nearly 70 km/hr. Again, this is not a real person and is for training purposes only.
