Meet my friend Sammy Lyons. We met through mutual friends a few years ago. Early in our friendship she accompanied me to Petunia & The Vipers at Coeur dArtishow Inc. It was only then that I discovered that her heart belonged to Petunia. She confessed to having had mounted his 8 x 10 inside her locker. Being the gentleman that I am, I arranged for the two of them to perform a duet of Walking After Midnight. You know what? Sam can channel Maralyn Monroe and upstaged him! When great tragedies befall someone its often difficult to know how to react or what to say. Sometimes its easier not to say anything. Having said that, I could have been a better friend to Sam. Were all familiar with the nursery rhyme Rock-a-bye Baby. Well, the bough broke and the cradle fell, before it even got a chance to be used. Five months ago, Hayden, Sams first born, was the victim of a stillbirth. Obviously a very traumatic event and being the survivor that she is, shes been coming to terms with it by sharing her story. Shes also started a support group in Fredericton, New Brunswick to help others cope with similar tragedies. For those who are wondering, no this was not Petunias baby. Sam is happily married to Nick.
