Meet our truly forgotten about Forgotten Friend Ralph. Ralphie Boy - TopicsExpress

Meet our truly forgotten about Forgotten Friend Ralph. Ralphie Boy was brought to AWSOM a few months back after he was thrown from a car that was involved in an accident. His owners didnt stop for him. Thank goodness, somebody quickly took hold of him and kept him safe until the police arrived and brought him into the loving arms of AWSOM. In case your wondering, his owners never did come looking for him. The first day or two he was with us, R-Boy was dazed and confused and wouldnt eat anything. He was very skinny, ribs showing and he was pretty gaunt looking. He walked with his head held low and his tail between his legs. Not only was he sick, but his confidence was shattered. Physically, tests and x-rays at the vets office revealed that our poor boy had an obstruction that required surgical removal. Of all things, that obstruction turned out to be a babys teething ring. That leads us to believe that he did indeed live with a baby or small child at some point. Anyhoo, Ralphie Boy had his surgery and physically recovered nicely with the help of AWSOM staff and volunteers. He began eating again and gaining much needed weight. Finally, R-Boy is the gorgeous, muscular, sleek and stunning boy you see in the video below. Because of all the trauma this poor baby has endured, its taking some time for him to reclaim his confidence and come out of his shell. We cant tell you what a delight it is to discover new things about him every day! Now, when you approach his kennel to take him for a walk, he starts to prance in circles, licking his chops, eyes sparkling, tail wagging in delicious anticipation. Open the door and present him with the leash and he bows his head gently to allow you to slip it around his big, handsome head. Step back, give him a little nod and out he comes, tail up, proud and grateful as can be, ready for an adventure. It is absolutely exhilarating to witness the new spring in his step! Heres where you have to be a firm, but gentle handler with R-Boy. He has a lot of energy and is pretty strong so hell try to pull you to where he wants to go. He hasnt had much leash training but he is super smart and picks up quickly. One day, while seeing a volunteer walking with him, I stopped them to get some pictures of R-Boy. So, I stood there and looked at him, bent slightly and said Ralph, are you a good boy? This goofy guy cocked his head to the side and stared at me quite intently, trying hard to figure out what I was saying. If he was trying to charm me, let me tell you, I fell for it hook, line and sinker! Amused and encouraged, I looked into those big beautiful eyes once again and said You are a good boy Ralph. I love you big boy. R-Boy cocked his head to the other side, looked at me and planted a nice big one smack dab on my kisser. Turns out, baby boy speaks the universal language of love! R-Boy is a 2 year old Pit mix, is neutered, UTD on shots, micro chipped, house trained and ready for the fairy tale ending he so deserves. Ralphie Boy has made it clear to us that he doesnt want to share your attention with any other dog or cat so hell have to be the only furry member of your home. Trust us though, hell be all you need! We would also recommend no kids under 10, simply because hes strong and high energy and might unintentionally knock them around a bit. Ralph has been forgotten about, literally, by the people who abandoned him and it has taken him some time to adjust to his life without them. We dont think he should be forgotten about any longer and he sure as heck deserves to feel wanted again. It is time for R-Boy to move into the loving arms of his true lifetime family. He deserves to feel like a cherished and valued member of his very own loving family. As sure as the sun rises every day, he is worth it. His physical wounds have healed. Now, his heart needs to heal and we all know that the best salve for that job is plain and simple L.O.V.E.
