***Meet the artist, Cal Breed! TONIGHT at River Gallery!*** Initially, my idea was to create a few of these pieces each season by gathering local plants in their current state, whether budding anew or wilting away, and utilize these for a mold texture. By blowing a large molten bubble into the mold, an impression of the fauna embosses the glass surface. Upon cooling, the layers of process continue through cutting, grinding, and surface finishing of the piece....Though the embossed glass surface only vaguely describes the fauna and its season, it remains important to this work. The gathering of new materials for each piece challenges me to discover the diversity of my surroundings, forces me to uncover what does not usually catch my eye.--Cal Breed Opening Reception for Constant Motion, tonight 6:30-8pm
