Megan has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. This means that her immune system is attacking her body. This affects her kidneys, so that explains her kidney failure, her lungs and her heart. As for treatment, she is going to start three medications to kill off her immune system. These medications are a lot like chemotherapy in the sense that she more than likely is going to experience hair-loss, fatigue, puffiness, and nausea. Though this is certainly a longer road to wellness than we had thought, there are plenty of blessings to look at. They now know what is going on so they can begin to give her the treatment she needs The childrens hospital is outstanding.. We are lucky to be in their hands. They are looking into getting her into the a Ronald McDonald House to make her stay a bit more comfortable. And finally, I do not know anyone who loves life more than my little sister. She will fight through this. Once she gets settled into where she is going to be staying, Ill post the address for anyone who might want to send a card.
