Meghan Brousseau asked Does anyone have an itchy dane? Our 4 y/o female is on the raw diet and shes allergic to a few things (turkey being one). We eliminated turkey, but have been feeding her chicken, but weve now stopped as we thought perhaps the turkey allergy might extend to chicken...and anything with feathers. We live in a cold climate, so dry skin is prevalent, but her scratching is excessive. Weve been feeding her coconut oil and rubbing it on her skin, but shes still very itchy. One vet suggested we give her Benedyl, but wed like to avoid meds. And she cant be on steroids (which we dont want to do either) because of the raw diet. Anyone have any suggestions? Poor dog scratches her skin raw.
