I work at a shelter in Florida and we recently had a huge 5 year old, un-neutered, under weight male Dane come in as a stray. He was found tied to a pole in the scorching heat by animal control. He was untouchable and deemed food aggressive, dog aggressive and people aggressive. My fiance and I have worked with him and it turns out that he is a big baby! He gives kisses to us, plays with us and his toys, knows basic obedience commands and actually layed down next to my fiance and took a nap on the floor. I fell in love with him and am thinking about adopting him. I did a dog introduction with one of my pitbulls and it went well, I am doing the dog intro with BOTH of our dogs tomorrow to see how it goes. I am hoping for the best! He was just neutered today so I think that may help any aggression that is left in him to fade away a little... but my question is this; I am being told by MANY people not to trust Danes and that he will probably snap at some point. I am very familiar with dogs in general, I work with them constantlyu and have my own at home. I have a friend who owns a dane that is the most wonderful dog in the world. Do you think we have a chance? He was scheduled to be euthanized today and I stopped it from happening because I want to make sure I have exhausted EVERY option. Please help! Any advice is greatly appreciated!
