Membership applications now invited from professional - TopicsExpress

Membership applications now invited from professional organisations representing trainers and behaviourists. Following my recent meeting at Westminster with Defra which cemented ABTCs political support and its position as the organisation most suitable for providing government with expert opinion on the training and behaviour of animals (and yes, that includes dogs), membership is now open to a wider audience. Any organisation that represents trainers and behaviourists now has the opportunity to have their procedures and standards independently verified as meeting the ABTC requirements and having their members listed on the appropriate national register. Until the end of 2014 the standard application fee of £50 is being waived to ease the financial burden of achieving membership. The membership process has two stages, firstly we need to know about the applying organisation, its ethos, code of conduct and suitability. Once this part is approved there is a more detailed look at how members are assessed in order to specifically meet the skills, knowledge and understanding of the appropriate standard, there is help and advice on hand to guide applicants through this part. The next Council meeting is being held in November at a room being made available by Defra and although numbers are limited there may be a few places for new applicants to join us. Application forms to start the process are available to be downloaded on the ABTC website.
