Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service, in collaboration with the Media and Communication Arts Department at the City College of New York, has been awarded $250,000 a year for three years by the National Cancer Institute to raise awareness of the HPV vaccine within the Mexican-American community. The purpose of the grant is to help parents of Mexican origin who have age-appropriate children gain access the HPV vaccine, raise awareness on the benefits of vaccination, promote active participation in regular visits to health centers, and ultimately reduce the rates of cervical cancer and other infections associated with the virus.
