Memorial dedicated to officer in Elmore Amber Chavez, widow of Officer Jose ‘Andy‘ Chavez, helps her son, Emmitt, put his handprint in the base of a memorial to the officer in Elmore, Ohio. At left is her daughter, Marieh Chavez. The handprints of Amber, Marieh, and Emmitt Chavez are part of the foundation.THE BLADE/JETTA FRASER Enlarge | Buy This Photo The concrete was the foundation for a memorial to her father, Jose “Andy” Chavez, 26, an off-duty Elmore police officer shot dead in early March while celebrating his birthday at a Fremont bar. The memorial was unveiled during a somber dedication ceremony at Walter Ory Park in downtown Elmore. “I thought that I miss him,” she whispered when asked for her thoughts the moment she touched the concrete.
