Memory Verse “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Genesis 15:6 This verse is written about Abraham during the dispensation of promise. There are seven dispensations recorded in the Scriptures. In each one man failed. In every dispensation man sinned, and in every dispensation God provided the same solution to man’s sin. God is perfectly righteous. He is so much so that even one sin cannot come into His glorious presence, because God is light, and sin is darkness; God is life and sin causes death. Therefore, the wages of sin is death. If man were to come into the glorious presence of God, man would have to be perfectly righteous. However, nobody is. So God promised to take all of our sin onto Himself and then pay for them by dying, since sin causes death; and death is the only thing that will destroy sin. Since man can do nothing about His sinful condition, God requires the same remedy in every dispensation to provide a way for man to exist in the glory of God. That remedy is to believe God’s promise to die and pay for sin. What did Abraham do to obtain the righteousness required to get to heaven? “Abraham ____________ in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness.” In each dispensation God also gave man the same dispensation or responsibility. In each dispensation God gave men the job to replenish the earth with believers. However, man also failed in this stewardship as well. In each dispensation there was a sacrifice required to demonstrate the pervasiveness of sin, the severity of sin, the penalty for sin, and the eventual provision for sin through Christ. However, man would always change salvation from something God was to do through His own sacrifice to something man did.
