Memphis Facebook Friends, Due to budget cuts next fall, 5,100 of Memphis’s youngest children will not have access to the benefits of a Pre-K classroom! As a Memphis voter, you have the power to change this. This November Memphis residents will have the opportunity to vote on a city-wide referendum to raise the sales tax just .5%, or just 1 quarter for every 50 dollars spent. With this investment, Memphis can provide Pre-K to every child in the city that needs it! Pre-K has been proven to upset the cycle of poverty and break the chain of crime, welfare acceptance, and teen pregnancy. Imagine what Memphis could look like in 20 years with 5,100 additional citizens who own homes, work full time jobs, and actively participate in the betterment of our community. Just a half percent can save Memphis countless dollars in the long run. Are you willing to invest in our children and in the future of Memphis? Stand for Children Tennessee is part of the Memphis Pre-K Initiative helping pass the referendum, we hope you will join us. If you are willing, here is what you can do: 1.
