Men And their obsessions… Ok Ladies, we love our guys, but how do we handle their obsessive compulsive disorders? Case in point, My “unique” husband. Those of you who are friends on FB with him know about him and the growing number of lights on his new truck. Those of you who do not, here is the story. In December, just before Christmas, Kevin got a new F250 Super duty 4x4 diesel. He wanted the power to tow our Camper/Trailer. No problems… he had a spray on liner and tonneau cover put on at the point of sale. The liner is black – which makes the interior dark when the cover is down and of course it is dark at night. He got two strands of LED lights, inserted them in PVC pipe (attached them to the bed) with spaces cut out for each light. He painted the PVC black to match the interior and they switch on and off. Cool – sure, now his bed lights up as needed (great for camping! Next he got a light to go on his trailer hitch – it goes on and off with the back-up and brake lights. Then he got a part that has an addition two lights that do the same – also attached to the hitch. Next it was “the lights in the cab are not bright enough” – New cab lights. We went out one Saturday to get his truck washed and I made the mistake of seeing another truck with small amber lights on the top of the cab and mentioned they looked “cool”… You guessed it – he got 5 put on the top of the cab. (I am beginning to think he really wanted a semi but was afraid to ask) Me, being the “smart ass” I am said “are you sure you don’t want lights on the running boards since you are getting “old” and will soon need assistance stepping into the truck?” Yep you guessed it… more lights! They came in packets of five per strip – two strips. He only used three on each of the running boards and had 4 left over. Not to be “wasteful” he put them in his front grill. All of the lights have a toggle switch to turn them on separately or to come on with the headlights. Next he added two additional fog lamps to the front of the truck. I figured by now, there was no other place he could put lights… how wrong was I! Sunday afternoon, he started bringing tools into the kitchen – putting them on the island. Next I saw the cup holders from inside his console. “What are you doing now”, I asked. His reply was that he was putting lights into the cup holders! Talk about obsessive compulsive! I looked at him like he was totally NUTS! I asked him when he decided to do this and when he got the lights – a week or so ago was his stock answer. They were only about $10.00 and they will look so cool! After a few hours and a few phone calls to friends about insulating wires, he went out to do his install. He came back from the garage and said “you are going to kill me”… With all of these lights, I already figured it was “justifiable homicide”, so I asked him what happened. “I dented your car”. Those of you who know me, know I usually have a nice car – well in November, I purchased a 2013 RX450H Lexus Hybrid (I LOVE my car). Figuring he just dinked it, I went to look – HE DENTED THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT PANEL. “How in the hell did you do that”, I asked. Well here ya go … he obviously did not have the lights he installed on the running board in the “on” position and missed the step, falling into his door and into my car! His $10.00 lights cost him $510.00 (the deductable to get my car fixed!). I am hoping this will put a moratorium on lights for his truck for while! You can see pictures of the lights on Kevin’s FB Page…
