Meow, hello everyone, I’m Tippy. What a start to life I’ve had! I had to have one of my front legs amputated! Let me tell you my story ... I’m only four months old and came to Lort Smith with my three siblings when our owner couldnt keep us. Two of my siblings have already left Lort Smith together for a loving home but my sister Mae Mae and I are still waiting for our new home. This is because I needed a little help from Lort Smith to become fit, healthy and ready for adoption. You see, I was born much smaller than the others. In fact, humans often call me the runt. But my biggest problem was there was something very, very strange about my front leg. Instead of having a normal leg, mine was permanently twisted from the elbow, plus I only had two toes instead of the usual five. I heard people say it is a birth defect and that it looks like a little chicken wing! It didn’t really worry me too much, I could still play as rough as my brothers and sisters, although because of my size they nearly always won, which is so not fair! However, the vets at Lort Smith said it was best to remove my leg. Otherwise it would have caused me a lot of pain and problems as I grew older. I was a little afraid of having surgery. It wasnt as bad as I imagined though. Everything went to plan! Now that it’s done and I’ve spent some time recovering in foster care, I can find my new forever home so the surgery was totally worth it! I don’t even miss my leg. Lort Smith staff have also told me that plenty of Lort Smith supporters donated to Lort Smith to completely cover my surgery bill. There was even money left over to help other surrendered animals like me too. Amazing! Thank you all so much! I’m now ready for adoption and I’d love, love, love so much to go to the same home as my sister Mae Mae who is pictured with me in one of the photos. We’re both very kind and caring kittens. You can meet Mae Mae and I at Lort Smith Adoption Centre at 24 Villiers St in North Melbourne between 9.30am and 3.30pm. You can also call the friendly Adoption Centre team during those hours too if you have any questions about us or the adoption process. I hope we meet our new owners soon!
