Merry Christmas, Dad. This is the time of year I miss you most. You taught me to love and celebrate Christmas. It was the most consistent time that you and I could work together without banging heads. Hanging lights outside...the Santa and reindeer up on the roof. Cutting the tree down...lining the beams of the family room with lights...Christmas Eve open house is the Christmas event I miss more then anything. I know we had a hard time connecting when I was a teenager....I know you tried hard to make up for your busyness when I was a kid during my teenage years, but I was too stubborn to let my hurt go. I am very thankful we had those last few years and more then anything I am soooo thankful we had that last Christmas in 1992 when your symptoms miraculously disappeared for the holiday season. Your work ethic was beyond any other, your craftsmanship was unmatched for hundreds of miles, and you were way smarter then some gave you credit for (mainly me). I try to tell your grandkids as much as I can about you.....I know you would have been the biggest softee as a grandpa and would have loved and doted on them. I wish I knew more about you outside of what I witnessed to pass on to them, but I was too caught up with my own life while your brothers were still here. I am sorry for that. I am so thankful that I got to take them to New Egypt this summer and introduce them to you and some of the structures of your master craftsmanship. I love you deeply and mourn regularly that you arent here, but I also know that you are here in me. You taught me much about how to be a man....more then I know...I am still discovering truths that I never knew I learned from you. I love you.
