Merry Christmas Eve: We Dont Need To Kill! A Christmas Truce - TopicsExpress

Merry Christmas Eve: We Dont Need To Kill! A Christmas Truce 100 year anniversary! 100 years ago British and German Troops were knee deep in the mud of the 500-mile Western Front. It rained for many days, ironically as it is scheduled to rain today into Christmas. This perpetual rain, which made moving through the trenches as much a slog as the war itself, ironically just like these senseless killings of our emergency responders. However, even in the deepest darkest moments of war, fear, killings and senselessness there was still hope. The same hope we all need to get back and embrace in our Country. On that Christmas Eve Night, 100 years ago today a British Soldier observed a light shining from the side of the German Soldiers. Concerned it may be a trap the soldier held his position and attempted to get a better look. To his surprise it was a Christmas Tree and then he heard a faint sound that he had never heard on a battlefield. The German words to Stille Nacht, Silent Night to all of you! When finished, their foes cheered and the British returned not in gun fire, but with the English version. A truce invited by the Germans, requested by Pope Bendict XV and ignored by political leaders, but soldiers staged their own unofficial, spontaneous armistices. I share this story and this song to hopefully create a truce of our own in our own Country. We are at war it seems within our own borders and it needs to stop, there needs to be peace and we need to find the goodness in us all. I have attached this video describing the event and I hope many of you share it to show your support in not whos right or wrong right now, but the hope and wish for kindness and peace throughout this Christmas Holiday! https://youtube/watch?v=YAQfPgvhz7s
