Merry Christmas from your Nova loving friends at National Nostalgic Nova. Andrew Starr of western Pennsylvania works for Hilborn as a EFI Specialist. Andrew owns this really cool 1966 Nova sport Coupe. Ill let Andrew tell us more about his car. My 66 Nova is more of an L-79 tribute car in the day two motif. I wanted to remain as true as I could to the way GM designed it with some small touches. Admittedly I bought it from a friend who had done a lions share of the work allowing me to hone in on the desired look. Starting with the engine which is a 4-bolt SBC punched to 360cid. World S/R heads cap TRW forged slugs, scat rods and a race prepped GM cast crank. Compression measures out at 9.68 to 1. Bullet Cams ground a mechanical cam with 232 degrees @.050 for both the intake and exhaust on a 108 lobe center. A Moroso rear sump conversion pan completes the bottom end while under the L-79 dual snorkle air filter rests a Pro-Systems designed 750 double pumper. The trans is a 1967 Corvette M20 with a Competition Plus shifter and a Muncie shifter arm. The lakewood scatter shield hides the McLeod diaphragm clutch which is activated with stock linkage. Power is sent to a 12 bolt narrowed to factory 66 Nova specfications and spins a posi carrier with 3.73 gears and Moser axles. Traction bars and weld in frame connectors tie everything together. The stock front suspension features new bushings, ball joints and tie rods along with a bearing conversion for the idler arm. A 1 inch Adco sway bar and the drilled and slotted rotors with power brakes make it handle and stop like a new car with the help of BF Goodrich Slvertown red line radials on 15x6 and 15x7 rally rims. The body is repainted the factory two tone colors of Sandlewood Tan and Cameo Beige. The unique combination gets rave reviews from all that see it. The interior is recovered in the factory Light Fawn with 66 SS bucket seats. A late 60 s Dixco tach along with matching oil pressure and coolant temp gauges keep check on the vitals. My Nova is a blast to drive and even though its not meant to be a fast car, thats what I have my 56 Chevy for, its perfect to load the family in and hit the cruise nights with.
