Merry Christmas to all my family and friends Pretty Paper I remember it like yesterday I was nine years old setting at my mother and fathers table at our home in Houston Texas when Willie drop by and shared his new song and picked it at our kitchen table off to Nashville the next day to record one of the best Christmas songs of all time and yes I remember the old man downtown Houston with the bows and ribbons and pencils down on Main Street in front of Macys department store. While Willie Nelson was still getting his career started, he had a writing contract, and wrote the Christmas song Pretty Paper, which Roy Orbison recorded. That release climbed to #15 on the US charts in 1963. Sixteen years later, Willie Nelson made it the title track on his own Christmas album.
