Over a career lasting 48 years, Pete has played bass or keyboards for many bands including Sons of Fred 1965 England, Fluer De Lys, Sam Gopal Dream, Early Rod Stewart including the hit album, Every Picture Tells a Story, Long John Baldry Blues Band, John Cipollina, Jefferson Starship 1974-1987, Nick Gravenites, Hot Tuna 1992-2002, John Lee Hooker, Phil Lesh & Friends, David Nelson Band, Harvey Mandel and many more. Hi all, if anyones inclined towards learning classic 4 string bass guitar, Im teaching a bass class at Jorma Kaukonens amazing, Fur Peace Ranch Guitar Camp on the weekend of August 15-18, 2014. The Ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in southeastern Ohio. Ive taught there before (piano) ...its quite a place, workshops, cabins, cookhouse (unbelievable food)...sort of like a mini western frontier town (without the guns and horses of course). They have weekend workshops for most of the year for all skill levels. Many well known musicians have taught there over the years, including artists like Larry Campbell, Warren Haynes, Jack Casady, GE Smith, Roy Bookbinder, David Lindley, Tommy Emanuel, Steve Kimock, and Peter Rowan. The weekend Im teaching also features workshops with Barry Mitterhoff on Bluegrass Mandolin and beyond, Dave Revels on mastering the art of live entertainment, and Jorma himself teaching his amazing finger picking techniques.
