Message from the Board of Directors Nine shoal/hazard markers are now in place on Lorimer Lake, thanks to the efforts of Gary Monaghan, a newly acclaimed member of the board of directors of the Lorimer Lake Association. The installation of markers was approved unanimously by the membership at the recent AGM. They are clearly marked with the initials “LLA”. Gary has designed and constructed the markers and anchors, and installed them. He will remove them in the fall, and re-install them next spring, maintaining them accordingly. Please contact Gary at qcsnowbird@gmail if you have any concerns re any of the markers, or wish to point out a further hazard which might be addressed, or just to say thank you. So far Gary is ‘on budget’. The quality of these markers has been greatly enhanced by personal contributions from Dean Rivett, who is with ‘Classic Rope Fenders’, and Judy Semple, who is with ‘Hutchings Marine Products Ltd’. Thank you Dean and Judy for your generous support. Please remember these markers usually indicate ‘hazard areas’ not single rocks. ‘Boater beware’ as always; sensible boating practices remain imperative. There are still many dangerous areas. Please advise your guests accordingly. Gary.......the board truly appreciates your efforts, not only your commitment to this project, but also for taking on the role of Membership Director on the executive as well. We suspect your name will become known all over Lorimer Lake, very quickly. Please folks, feel free to designate up to 50% of your 2013 membership fee towards the shoal hazard budget.
