Message to Melelo ward and Narok County at large. REF; HOSPITAL PART 1, a sad story. BY Abraham Kiplangat Mutai Dear Brothers and sisters, Ladies and gentlemen, its with great concern that i wish to voice out the poor nature and state of health facilities in the whole expanse region of Olmekenyu and in extension the whole ward of Melelo if not the whole county of Narok. For the sake of relevance and accuracy, I wish to narrow down to MELELO WARD and if you have the same problem in your area let us know herein so we can chant a common course. Since time in the past, Olmekenyu area has never known a public hospital, dispensary or any medical services from the government. An area such big deserves at least a dispensary for the go, but we have never known any public hospital and the nearest hospital is in Narok Town... Its sad we have had our folks die while being carried to Olmekenyu to some private clinics. Those who live as far as Tendwet will tel you their prayers everyday is that they dont fall sick because sickness spells doom. I personally carried my neighbor to Olmekenyu last December, who had an asthma attack and it was hell. The roads and rains means life is just impossible. The situation is so dire that over and over again, women are forced to give birth at home under the care of semi skilled midwives. I personally know a case of a girl (about 16) who died somewhere past Kitobeen for bleeding excessively under the watchREF; HOSPITAL PART 1, a sad story. The situation is so dire that over and over again, women are forced to give birth at home under the care of semi skilled midwives. I personally know a case of a girl (about 16) who died somewhere past Kitobeen for bleeding excessively under the watch of the so called midwives. Well, dont crucify me, i know of some few clinics operating in the area and i want to salute these brave and sincere men and women who have defied the odds over time to continue offering clinical support to our people in the region. I personally salute Mr Ezekiah Milgon of Kabarak (He is my good friend). Ezekiah has been helping people, sometimes treating them for free and sometimes on credit, since i can remember. (God bless his work). I remember one day he stitched me up after i was injured during clearing my shamba...and he didnt ask for a cent. He told me UKIPATA PESA ULETE. There are many but i cant mention them all here due to limited space and time. Well you are wondering what is my point by saying all this. I want to bring your attention to one perhaps very crucial fact that many dont now or they are just ignorant about. When ESP money was rolled out, Narok is among the beneficiary constituents. This money was supposed to be used by the stakeholders to build sub-hospitals in all districts and expand existing dispensaries whilst building new ones if they are nonexistent. Am not sure who took the money but am sure no Dispensary has been constructed and am also sure the money is safe in someones account and in retrospect our people are suffering, albeit in silence. This is not enough, the then sitting Councillor Mr Olesulunye has never explained up to today what happened to LATIFF money that was supposed to be used to even scratch our roads. He used this and other money to fund his ever bloated family of 4wives, expanse children and to keep up his lavish lifestyle after selling his supposedly big chunks of land. As though not enough, an NGO thought they can help build us an hospital in Olmekenyu centre after seeing our plight, but the committee which sadly comprised of the Likes of Sulunye, Francis, Kiptonui and company ate the money and wired the rest of the money in to their bank accounts, the NGO pulled away, the Hospital project stalled and now we are back to square one, suffering!!! Its sad that we operate like Mongolia and we live like wild animals always praying hard, not to get sick! THE PEOPLE have the right to know why they are still suffering. Why dispensaries are luxuries and above all, we the people DESERVE TO HOLD ACCOUNTABLE all those who stole from us and lied to the public in the process to enrich themselves while the common man sells his maize at ksh20 a tin due to bad policies, and too much lies from those people we untrusted our hopes. of the so called midwives.
