Message to non-union members Band D-F The Namibia Bank Workers - TopicsExpress

Message to non-union members Band D-F The Namibia Bank Workers Union has a duty to represent and negotiate a collective agreement on any matter of mutual interest for every employee falling in the bargaining unit whether they are members or not in terms of section 64 (subsection (1)(14) of the labour act and as well the recognition agreement between the union and the bank. WHY JOINING There is no gain that a worker can win on his or her own. If you join a union, you combine with other union members and you become much stronger to make changes at the workplace. When I ask non- members, why are they not joining NBWU, they say they are enjoying the same benefits as union members. But your employer will at no stage just volunteer to give something. Everything that you are enjoying is because of the union’s efforts. How? Previously, before the union bargains with the bank, you were forced to accept anything offered by the bank. As trade union members, I believe that the time has come for us to re-evaluate the entire situation of free writers. Our union has been part of all the developments in the fight towards making and improving better working conditions for everybody in the bargaining unit at First National Bank. Let’s abolish all forms of hypocrisy that concentrate on me, myself and I but take this one step further to say” we, ourselves and us. We call on all non-managerial employees of FNB to set any prejudices they may have and strive for unity, the guiding slogan of the international working class” From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs. From the situation describe above all non- union members will be charge a once off fee for losses incurred during salary negotiations, which will be determine and decided upon by the National Executive Council at our next meeting scheduled to take place in early April 2013. To avoid this extra financial burden, speak to any shop steward in your branch or contact NBWU office and become a member now, because it is the right thing to do. Let us sow in order to reap. Join NBWU and be a winner everyday Yours in fighting for better working conditions!!!!!! Lawrence Ihuhua Secretary General
