Methyldopa ( Aldomet Tablet ) ____________________________ It is used alone or with other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Methyldopa is in a class of medications called antihypertensives. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. Methyldopa is used to help control blood pressure in chronic hypertension during pregnancy.
