Metro Pro League holds Media Executive forum: Determined to improve on its maiden season, the Metro Pro League at the weekend held a brainstorming session with the media executives in Lagos. The convener of the forum and Chairman, Metro Pro League, Mr. Godson Uti, commended the media executives for giving the league some leverage in its maiden season. Uti informed that the Metro Pro League is owned by private clubs in Lagos state and the formation was to wet the appetite of football fans who are yearning for a standardized league which is devoid of bias officiating and rancour. “We recorded a successful outing in the first season in such that fans can go out to watch matches without nursing fears of being attacked. We at all times bar miscreants from gaining access into our arenas. “Secondly, we ensured that unbiased referees are picked to officiate our games and record shows that most games are won away last season which is not obtainable in other leagues,” Uti pointed out. Uti who is also the Chairman of Bridge Football Club of Lagos, informed that plans are in top gear to add new innovations to improve on the standard of the league in the new season. Some of the innovations, according to him are; a proposed gala night where players and administrators excellence in the maiden season will be recognized and the Metro Pro League official match ball will also be unveiled. The Metro Pro League, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Victor Akinyooye, who was also at the forum while reeling out the adopted time and venues for matches, hinted that the plans have been concluded to play some games in the evening under flood lights to attract football enthusiasts to the arena. “Metro Pro League matches are played on Wednesdays, Thursdays and an early kick off on Saturdays. The days are strategically picked to avoid clashes with the Premier League and the Champions League timing. “Our match venues are; Onikan Stadium, Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Strong Tower Pitch, Ikorodu, Teslim Balogun Stadium and the Agege Township Stadium,” he concluded. The media executives took their turns to offer advises to the Metro Pro League officials on how the project can be improved upon and be made a model in the country.
