Metro columnist Jacquielynn Floyd writes about a pregnant woman who is all but dead but being kept on life support because doctors can still hear a fetal heartbeat. Marlise Munoz, a former paramedic who doctors believe suffered from a pulmonary embolism Nov. 26, had made it clear to her family that she would never want to be kept artificially alive with no hope of recovery. Because of the fetus poor prognosis, the family has said publicly that they want to allow it to die peacefully, along with its mother. But state law says Marlise Munozs body -- against her own and her familys wishes -- must be maintained as an unwilling incubator.
