MetroNews Morning News Headlines: Hell take over officially tomorrow. And it did NOT take members of the state Higher Education Policy Commission long to confirm Gary White as the Interim President at Marshall University. HEPC members know White well. Hes served with them on the Commission since August 2013. White has also been a member of Marshalls BOG and former member of the state Board of Education. White will temporarily take the place of Marshall President Stephen Kopp who died after suffering a heart attack two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Marshall University Athletic Director Mike Hamrick and Marshall University Head Football Coach Doc Holliday will be staying in Huntington. Marshall officials confirm the two have agreed to new contracts -- in principle. Hamrick was hired at Marshall in 2009 and, later that year, hired Holliday. The Head Coach at Texas A&M is apologizing for the actions of a now FORMER student assistant during Mondays AutoZone Liberty Bowl against West Virginia University. Aggies Coach Kevin Sumlin issued a statement Tuesday apologizing. Sumlin apologizes to Mountaineer Head Football Coach Dana Holgorsen and the West Virginia family. In Wyoming County, a U.S. Postal Service employee is facing a federal charge for allegedly issuing a 985 dollar money order without being paid for it. A federal information, usually indicating cooperation, has been filed against Janet Martin of New Richmond. This year will be a bad year for the flu -- the prediction from state Influenza Coordinator Shannon McBee, an epidemiologist with the state Bureau of Public Health, who says the Flu Season is starting earlier in West Virginia than it has in several years. Already, the Centers for Disease Control has declared a flu epidemic nationwide.
