MetroProMedia > Technology Systems contractor > asks: What do you think of this? Comcast (the deservervedly disrespected) is creating a mega-public-wifi-hotspot network using the the equipment they install in your home or business(!) Of course they claim that this new rollout is on the up and up, But precious little info is being released to the markets they serve. Heres the skinny: The latest version of their Modem/Gateway/Wireless-Access-Point Device is designed to not only give you the customer a WiFi link to the Internet, But has an additional WiFi Broadcast feature designed to be accessed by anyone outside your premesis with a proper username and password. This could be anyone. (How does this enhance your network security?) Im not sure how far the program has progressed in the Twin Cities, But it is in play. I have clients in Eden Prairie dealing with this now. If you have recently, or are planning to order broadband service with new equipment > you will be part of this program. Ive got an interesting link for you below: (the comments below the article are pretty good too) MetroProMedia (), Serves the Twin Cities area, and greater Minnesota. Please let me know if you need a hand with any electronic system need. Best2you!
