Michael is saying that there is still lack of clarity about what mentoring should mean. There is still lack of systematic mentoring in work place especially where I work and from my teaching experience. I agree that mentoring should make contribution in improving the quality of teaching and supporting learning in FE in Pursuit of excellence for all full time , part-time and support workers. I agree with Cunningham 2007 the need for an appropriate architecture in colleges to support teachers acting as mentors through 3 types of transitions- induction into organization or institution, induction into a subject area and induction into the teaching profession This I think this will bring excellence” in mentoring in FE.
