Michaella is going to be discharged from ABA! Today, her therapist went over the initial goals we set up a year and a half ago, and we had to state how well we felt she had accomplished these things. I remember thinking her wearing buttons 3-4 times a week was a lofty goal and one I wasnt too concerned with. I cried as the lady read them off. She has exceeded all the goals they put before her. She has taken every higher level of therapy with the grit and determination that never fails to amaze and inspire me. She has gone from the quiet girl who barely spoke in school to having a circle of friends she enjoys spending time with. She just started volunteering in the childrens church where we attend, and when the kids swarm her with hugs, it doesnt bother her - matter of fact, she loves it. Thats not to say she doesnt have bad days. A sudden change in schedule can still throw her for a loop, little things can still cause big anxiety, sensory issues can have her in a bind - but you can see her using her therapy tools to work through it. Im very proud of her, and I hope she is proud of herself.
