Mick Hanly Singer/Songwriter Mick Hanly began his recording career with the late Mícheál O’Domhnaill making one album, Celtic Folkweave for the Polydor label, which is now classed as one of the groundbreaking folk albums of the time. He followed that with a further two folk albums for the Mulligan label, ‘A Kiss in the Morning Early’ and ‘As I Went Over Blackwater’, before turning his hand to song writing and fronting the hugely popular Moving Hearts for a spell in the early eighties, his sojourn culminating in the release of the album Live Hearts. He formed his own band, Rusty Old Halo, recording one album with Warners called Still Not Cured. After a series of albums for the now defunct Round Tower label, Hanly found his own voice and song writing style, which he has been honing to good effect ever since. He had a major hit with his song ‘Past the Point of Rescue’ Stateside in 1992, for which he picked up three BMI awards. One for ‘Most Played Country Song’, and one for ‘1Million Radio Plays’; His most recent being that for Past The Point passing the ‘Two Million Radio Plays’ mark. He also has two Hot Press, and two National Entertainment awards. His songs have been recorded by artists Hal Ketchum, Mary Black, Christy Moore, Kate McKenzie, Delbert McClinton, Daniel O’Donnell, Dolores Keane, Francis Black, Sean Keane, etc. Mick released Mick Hanly Collected in 2009, and recorded Mick Hanly&Friends Live at the Set Theatre in Kilkenny in 2011, with special guest appearances from Christy Moore, Mary Black, and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill. Mick continues to gig countrywide and launched his project ‘Coming To A Village Near You’ in 2012. This project is designed to bring the music to village halls and community centres throughout the country and is ongoing. Mick has also given many songwriting workshops for Listowel Writers Week, Fingal Writer’s Week, and IMRO. mickhanly/ Infos/Reservierung: [email protected], 089/679 24 81 und 0174/9541883 Veranstaltungsorte: Ars Musica im Stemmerhof, Plinganserstr. 6, 81369 München (U6/S7 Harras, Bus 53 Margaretenplatz.) irishfolkclubmunich V.i.S.d.P.
