Micronesia - Chuuk Lagoon. During World War II, Chuuk Lagoon was the Empire of Japans main base in the South Pacific theatre. Was a heavily fortified base for Japanese operations against Allied forces in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, serving as the forward anchorage for the Japanese Imperial Fleet. A significant portion of the Japanese fleet was based there, with its administrative center on Tonoas. At anchor in the lagoon were the Imperial Japanese Navys battleships, aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, tankers, cargo ships, tugboats, gunboats, minesweepers, landing craft, and submarines. In 1944 Chuuk was devastated in one of the most important naval attacks of the war. The consequences made Chuuk lagoon the biggest graveyard of ships in the world. It’s impossible to video the four amazing countries that are part of Micronesia into a less than 3 minutes video, so Chuuk and his lagoon was my choice. Hope u all like it.
