Micrurus fulvius (Eastern coral snake) red touches black its a friend of jack, red touches yellow.. its a coral snake. These guys have neurotoxic venom. The rumor is that they have to naw on your flesh in order to get their fangs deep enough to envenomate you, but thats not true. Coral snakes have sharp, hollow, needle like fangs that can easily penetrate skin. They arent aggressive so bites from them arent common, and deaths are even more rare. Deaths usually only occur when someone is bitten and mistakes it for a dry bite, because it may not be apparent for hours that there is venom coursing through your system. Imagine laying in bed and your mouth wont open, you cannot speak, move or open your eyes to get help. If you are ever bitten by one seek medical attention regardless if you feel it or not.
