Mid-Continent Car Shop Update: As of 3pm Sunday May 4th, the [work on Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range] C-74 caboose was completed. Work performed included all new poplar siding, window sills and trim on the cupola ends as well as (4) new sash. All wood was primed on both sides and 3 coats of DM&IR orange applied followed by the C-74 lettering on each cupola end and a final clear coat on the cupola. Once the cupola work was completed the entire interior of the car was cleaned, windows washed and the floor was washed as well. Once the doors were closed up the end platform decks received a fresh coat of gloss black. The cupola rebuild project spanned a five week period and was made possible by many volunteers including: Fred Bauers, Owen Hughes, Richard Dipping, Pete Becker, Darryl Gasser, Judy Gasser and Nancy Kaney.
