"Mid-life is a strange time. I suppose in a way it is like Middle Earth in The Lord of the Rings. It can be beautiful, but terrifying. You meet curious and strange characters along the way. Many are beautiful and unique. But you also come across many things that want to kill you (Yes, cancer and heart disease, I’m talking about you). You are much closer to the fire and the brimstone, but you are also nearer to the core. There is still fantasy, but there is also the stark, violent reality that anything can get you at any time. And you are forced to watch as it gets those around you and there is nothing you can do about it but offer comfort and forge on."
