Middle School Adventure Trip Update: Mr. Maeding checked in last night to say that day one of the adventure trip went swimmingly, despite a surprise run-in with some bees that were apparently angry to have their habitat disturbed. Coach O and several of the students received bee stings; none had serious reactions. Mr. Maeding describes the area as beautiful and epic. Students sleep in tents, but are able to spend time during the day in the ranch house, which is quite grand, with numerous rooms, bathroom, shower, and a big veranda with a fire pit and oven- a favorite gathering spot. Several service projects were completed yesterday. One group painted a large water tank. As soon as the paint is dry, they will be able to splash around and cool off during the day. Another group put in new fencing at the outskirts of the ranch to keep cattle from getting onto the ranch’s air strip. (Yes, the ranch has a plane!) Group three took a hike into a cavern to view petroglyphs on the walls. Everybody is fine and in good spirits!
