Might want to sit down for this, bourbon makes me a little wordy.. ;) BROKEN PROMISES Why do we listen, believe? How many times do we have to see you do it? And yet, we still are shocked! Outraged at your incompetence, greed, and the perversion of the very ideas you preach. Dont get me wrong, The US GOVT has some victories. On both sides of the fence. And, I believe in the concept that is the USA. Hell, I gave you 20 years on that belief. Now, Im no flag waver lets be clear. I joined because I was headed no where, quickly. And with few options, that I was either unwilling to sacrifice for, or incapable of. There you were, but I digress. To my original question, how many? How many promises, deals, treaties? How many times are you going to crawfish on your word? I suppose that is a question without an answer, seeing as it is an ongoing problem. Im not delusional, I know utopia is a fantasy, not a reality. I know you cant make everyone happy all the time. Hey, gotta break a few eggs to make an omlette right? I also know you politicans welcome corny sayings and euphamisms. But at what point do you quit with the bullshit? At what point do you step back and say, WOW we really messed up here. How did we get here? You wonder, at least I do. How did it happen? How did things get so messed up? I dont think any of you went there with the inspiration of screwing people over and getting paid (very well) to do it. I have to believe that was not your intent. But, here we are. Is it the money, the power? A by product of the position maybe, just the way things are. Is that what you tell yourself, is that how you sleep at night? I should bring some clarity to this rant. Although inspired by recent events, this letter is in regard to your behavior in general. It is retroactive, and non-partisan. I hold each and everyone of you accountable. To the 50 some odd Senators that signed your name on a letter, to Comissionerof the NFL Pete Goodell. Regardng the title of The Washington Redskins a professional football team. Where to begin? The irony is beyond staggering. On the eve of Memorial Day, a holiday that pays tribute to the servicemembers who have paid the ultimate price for this country and its ideas. You pay lip service, to a people; You raped, looted, murdered, and pillaged 150 plus years ago. In the midst of a scandal, regarding the health and welfare, of the very group you comissioned to commit said atrocities! As I said......Satggering. Are you that dense? Do you not see it, or you just dont care? You sing the praises of the US Soldier. Exalt thier virtues. You tell the public, sleep well, A US soldier is on the wall, holding the wolves redskins at bay. You commit your best and brightest to the meat grinder. Send them off with a pat on the back and a promise. What happens next? They come home, some of them anyway. Come home broken, and shattered. And there you are just waiting to turn a blind eye. All of a sudden theres no more money, the budgets too thin. How do you do it? I guess the answer is you have had a lot of practice. You know what the saddest part of this letter is? It barely scratches the surface of your broken promises. Well, Im outta bourbon, and the ink is running low as well. Im sure its a tough job, lord knows I dont want it. But guess what? You stood up and asked for it. You damn well better start acting on and upholding those promises you made to get it. Because dammitt, thats what you said you would do!
